ICFLM Blog Talk Radio…

December 5th, 2007   Comments Off

Wayne Clingman is now doing a (weekly?) radio show on Blog Talk Radio. The show covers the festival, the upcoming film workshops that will be running throughout the next year and a variety of other topics. You can listen in simply by clicking the play button on the player. I was his guest on the first show, and if I sound like a deer in the headlights, it’s because it was kinda sprung on me unexpectedly and I didn’t really have time to prepare. I’m sure the next time I’m on I’ll do much better.

Anyway, check it out, and keep coming back to check out the new shows as well!

IT CAME FROM LAKE MICHIGAN FILM FEST 2007 A SMASHING SUCCESS!

It Came From Lake Michigan 2007 brought the best in independent fantasy, horror and science fiction to Milwaukee.

October 25 to October 28 at The Tommy Thompson Center State Fair Park was the place. Sixty films were shown at the festival, all made by independent filmmakers, many of whom were from Wisconsin. Backwoods Bloodbath, Black Widows and Damaged, among others, were all made by local film makers. The festival also included over fifteen classes that ranged from acting technique, screen writing, film journalism, film making techniques, special effects and more.

The roster of twenty-four special guests was headlined by German Director Dr. Uwe Boll (Alone in the Dark, House of the Dead), who not only showed his films Postal and Seed, both to a packed house, but also taught a class on film financing and distribution. Other events included presentation of the Film Heroes of Wisconsin awards, a gala party with a performance by the Living Dead Girlz and a puppet show based on the film Night of the Living Dead.

Wayne Clingman, director of the It Came From Lake Michigan Film Festival said, “Here we see what a true film festival can do for the Milwaukee area. Not only in terms of filling hotels with those who wish to see great independent films, but in bringing film makers together to see what a great place Milwaukee is to make movies. With tax credits for film production going into effect here in Wisconsin starting in January 2008, what better way for the Milwaukee area to be noticed?”

The ICFLM 2007 festival is now nothing more than three days of great memories. At some point in the next couple of weeks I’ll be posting a collection of photos from the event.

Also, in the next few days, t-shirts and posters from the event will be available for sale here on this website. So if you didn’t get one at the festival, or if you weren’t able to attend but would still like to support the festival in some way, you’ll be able to buy them here. I personally bought a t-shirt at the festival and I would have bought a poster if not for the chance of it getting wrecked as I traveled home. Both are absolutely great looking and really high quality.

Thank you to Wayne Clingman and Bill Zenobia for putting on this great festival. We all had a blast!

There will be post festival follow-up articles in the November issue of Rogue Cinema , which will be posted on the 1st of November. There were three of us from Rogue Cinema at the festival, and I know I’ll be writing an article, and Brian Morton usually does as well. I’m not sure if Nic Brown will be doing one because of time constraints and his schedule, but I’m working on mine right now, so I know it’ll be in there.

It was an awesome event with super nice people and a great time was had by all. Again, thanks to everyone who worked so hard to put it together.

Heading out to the festival.

I’m flying out to the festival this afternoon. Hope to see you all there. Come say hi to me if you see me. I’d love to meet you all.

(I being Duane Martin, editor of Rogue Cinema and webmaster of this site as well.)

I had an awesome time last year and this year’s going to be even better. So come on out and have some fun!

And now, for the final installment of the Clingman Zombie saga…

At last the Clingman Zombie had been captured after an unfortunate incident at the miniature golf course. He was taken to a local hospital where he was strapped to a table and examined thoroughly while he struggled feverishly against his bonds. It wasn’t until a well endowed, red headed nurse walked by the examination room however that he was able to find the strength to finally break free.

Hospital staff panicked and people were running in all different directions as the zombie ambled along after the poor, frightened nurse. That is, he was ambling along after her…until a door flew open in front of him and cracked him in the head, knocking him senseless to the floor.

The weaselly little spectacled doctor quickly grabbed the zombie by the feet and dragged him into the research lab. Quickly, he retrieved a syringe from the table full of anti-freeze and jabbed the needle into the zombies butt. Well, it would have been in the zombie’s butt…if he hadn’t flipped over at the last second. The zombie’s scream could be heard throughout the building as the doctor injected him with the glowing green liquid. After going through a series of gyrations that looked like Michael Jackson dancing around on acid, Mr. Clingman was successfully reanimated. He stood up, looked at his watch and discovered that the ICFLM 2007 festival was only three days away, so he thanked the doctor, pulled a couple of worms out of his ear, coughed up a couple of golf balls and then took off running for home so he could finalize the preparations for the festival.

So be sure to head out to this year’s ICFLM to meet our newly re-animated and freshly showered former zombie, Wayne Clingman. Just don’t stare when you see him. Seems that getting his re-animation shot in the crotch left him with a massive priapism that seems to have developed a mind of its own. Who knows, it could be the basis of a running series of doofy stories leading up to next year’s festival. You never know. :)

Anyway, that’s it for this year. The festival starts in just a few days and I (Duane) am looking forward to seeing you all there. I had an absolute blast last year and this year I’m actually teaching a couple of classes, so be sure to check those out so I don’t have to sit in a room alone talking to myself.

If there are any last minute changes to the schedule or guest list, they’ll be posted here, so be sure to check back for any changes before the festival.
